space chronicles
“…the Cassini spacecraft pulled into orbit around Saturn. There was nothing scientific about it, just pulling into orbit. Yet the Today Show figured that was news enough to put the story in their first hour – not in the second hour, along with the recipes, but in the first twenty minutes. So they called me Read.

face up
“Unlike other animals, humans are quite comfortable sleeping on our backs. This simple fact affords us a view of the boundless night sky as we fall asleep, allowing us to dream about our place in the cosmos and to wonder what lies undiscovered in the worlds beyond. The effect is to leave us restless for Read.

smith corona no 8
Not sure what to open with today, so I guess I’ll go with some machine porn: Bonus points if you’re under 18 years of age and can correctly identify what this is. No fair asking mom. Read.

lair
Can you find Bonkers the Cat in this photo of my basement lair? I bought a new camera a few weeks ago because I lost my old camera. Just lost it. I was taking photos while I was brewing beer or hammering on some wood or something, so between photos I put it somewhere very Read.

1ribbon
I finally got a typewriter ribbon for the most recently-acquired typewriter in my collection. Did you know you can still get typewriter ribbons from Staples? You can, but only one at a time. epic journey!
I don’t know if you realize this, but a historic journey of heroic proportions was completed yesterday. I’m talking, of course, about the bike ride My Darling B took with me all the way around Lake Monona. This 12-mile trip is probably longer than she’s ever traveled on her bike in one day. I knew Read.

Brooklyn Breakfast
Rode my bike to work yesterday. The weather was flawless and perfect in every way, so I had to ride my bike. I would’ve hated myself all day if I hadn’t. Rode it to work again today. The weather tricked me this time. It was nice this morning, but on the way home I was Read.

wink at the moon
I have a strange confession for a space geek to make: I have only the sketchiest idea where I was, and no memory of what I was doing, when Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon. I’m pretty sure I was in Marquette, Michigan when it happened, but I have no memory of Read.
