I have just finished watching the most bloody comedy I think I have ever seen. At least, I think it was a comedy. There were plenty of scenes that seemed to be intended to make me laugh. And I laughed, so that’s comedic, right?
But my god, the gore! I mean, like, more gore than was in Gladiator. But at no point did Collin Ferrell throw up his arms and shout, “Are you not entertained?”
So, funny. But really gory. Lots of blood. Almost everyone gets shot. When they do, blood sprays everywhere. Sometimes it looks like the set dressers applied it with a garden hose. Lots of people get their heads sawn off. Some get their hands chopped off. One guy gets his hands sort of stapled to a table, except with switchblade knives. I’m just saying, there are more than a few moments in this movie that make you go, Hmmm.
That said, on to the good stuff:
Sam Rockwell playing, well, that guy Sam Rockwell plays. Always fun to watch. Same goes for Christopher Walken.
Woody Harrellson does his thing, too. Not sure how much I like watching him anymore. It was perfect for Zombieland, but I just don’t know how he’s going to keep milking it.
Collin Ferrell is Collin Ferrell. I wish I could say half as much with my eyebrows as he can. I’d settle for his cool Irish accent.
I have to give it three stars. But remember the gore. Lots of blood. Lots.
