the tea
I left for work in kind of a hurry yesterday. I wasn’t late, but I didn’t get out the door and on the road as promptly as I like to do, so I accidentally skipped over the part where I packed a lunch. I also forgot to refill the little Tupperware I keep tea bags Read.

gassy
I worked from the office yesterday. Our office is like a long hallway, and my desk is at the far end of it, so I’m mostly by myself, especially these past months when the desk next to mine was vacant. Well, I got a little too used to being all by myself way down at Read.

wired
It was a very rainy, very wet, and unfortunately very cold day today. Unfortunate not for me — I was warm and snug inside all day — but unfortunate for the two AT&T technicians who came to connect fiber optic cable to our house. And unfortunate that it couldn’t be put off any longer. It Read.

bad mechanic
Is there anything worse than a car mechanic who tries to take advantage of you? It’s a rhetorical question. Of course there is. But a mechanic who tries to defraud you is a special kind of creep, is what I’m trying to say. Allow me to tell you a short story: I drove Barb’s car, Read.

morning walk 03/16/2025

The BB rattling around in my brain
This isn’t an original thought, but it runs through my head on a loop and sometimes writing these things down helps me stop thinking about them so I can sleep at night: A certain billionaire could have used his immense wealth and influence to bring clean water to everybody in the world. He could have Read.

morning walk 03/08/2025
I knew if I wanted to take a hike through the UW-Madison arboretum, I would have to get there before the sun had been up long enough to melt the ground and turn every trail into a slippery quagmire of muck, which was already starting to happen by the time I left at 10:00 this Read.

My First Root Canal
Do you know what dentists call a tooth that needs a root canal? Until yesterday I didn’t, but now I do. They call it a “hot tooth.” My dentist made time to take a look at my “hot tooth” this morning when I called his office and told the receptionist I had a toothache that’s Read.

Neighborhood Hike
What with waiting for the delivery guys to bring our new washer and dryer, and then getting everything squared away in the basement so we could use our new washer and dryer, there wasn’t enough time left over on Saturday or Sunday to drive across the county for a long hike on the Ice Age Read.
