I woke up a little before six on Saturday morning, way before anyone in the campground was up and about. They all stayed up late the night before, gathered around the massive bonfires they built up in nearly every camp site. These were the quietest bunch of campers I’ve been around yet. I paid a visit to Upper Michigan’s Fayette State Park last weekend and it was, I am happy to report, worth every minute of the hours and hours it takes to drive there from Our Humble O’Bode. The park is beautiful, the campgrounds are comfortable if just a tiny bit cramped, and I had gorgeous Read.

I spent yesterday morning and all afternoon tearing the old doors off the garden shed, then rebuilding and rehanging new doors, with a lot of help from My Darling B, who volunteered her time to go to the lumber yard with me and also to hang the doors. I wish I had a better “before” Read.

The shed is up on what I hope is a somewhat more secure foundation. There’s a heavy concrete block under each corner and in the middle of each side, and a thick piece of timber runs under frames along two of the outside walls and down the middle. I could have run timbers around all Read.

Meat People was serving a special fried chicken dinner this afternoon, so My Darling B and I quit our yard work early, cleaned up and headed over to The Muskellounge and Sporting Club to enjoy some delicious cold drinks while we waited for dinner to be served. It was well worth the wait. Read.

My Darling B needed a garden shed for all her shovels and rakes (and implements of destruction) so we bought a kit to make one from a local hardware store and I put it together in the back yard about fifteen years ago. When we bought it, I asked the guy at the hardware store Read.

I had a hankering for a big plate of tater tots after work, and the one place that serves the very best tater tots in town is the Vintage brewery, where they also happen to sell their very own house-made beer. We were lucky enough to drop in when they were serving the most delicious Read.

After a long Friday banging away at the keyboard to (nearly) finish up the projects that have taken us all week to get through, it was finally time to clock out and start to enjoy the weekend a little bit. We went back to the Muskellounge and Sporting Club for a couple of beers and Read.
