Workers at the UW-Arboretum in Madison cleared this tree from the path it had fallen across last week. The upper branches of the fallen tree got tangled in the branches of a tree standing beside the path. It was probably too difficult to remove them safely, so the workers left behind this eye-catching floral arrangement. The stump of the fallen tree didn’t look very rotten, so I wonder why it fell? There are many dead trees in the arboretum which are much more rotten yet still standing.
