Updating my hiking log, a Rite In Rain notebook, using a Rite In The Rain mechanical pencil, both gifts from Number One Son, Sean, for Father’s Day. Thanks, Sean!

I’ve been using a Rite In The Rain notebook to log my hikes after watching My Darling B log all her gardening notes in the same kind of notebook. They’re practically indestructible. Her notebooks have been rained on again and again and, although they get muddy, they have never fallen apart, even though she keeps writing in them when they’re wet.

I picked mine up while I was looking for maps at REI and have been using it for almost a year, so I’m glad to get another one. The packaged set that Sean got me also comes with an indestructible cover, which you can sort of see in the photo.
