IAT Brooklyn segment

I walked the Brooklyn segment of the Ice Age Trail from the north end to the south and back to the north end, about 6 miles in two and a half hours. I’m feeling pretty well-chuffed about going that far in less time than the 3.7 mile hike I made yesterday, both with a 20-pound pack. The hike at Blue Mound was a rocky single-track that I had to navigate much more carefully than the Ice Age Trail, which was a much wider, flatter path most of the way.

Even so, I probably would’ve taken a little longer to walk the IAT if the weather hadn’t changed so suddenly when I was at about the halfway point while heading back to the van. The skies were clear and sunny on the southbound leg, but on the way back dark clouds were moving in fast from the north and I was worried I would get caught in a cold drenching downpour while I was out in the open, so I double-timed to the treeline hoping to gain some shelter in the wooded area. The rain never came down but the wind got very frisky.
