Oh my goodness I was so busy at work yesterday that I literally did not have more than five minutes when I wasn’t busting my ass to get shit off my desk. It was almost too much of a change after a weekend of leisure; more than once I wanted to put my head down on the desk and sob, then sleep. By lunchtime I was bushed, and come quitting time I wanted nothing so much as to just get out of there as quickly as I could. Lucky for me, so did My Darling B. She’d had the same kind of day, so I didn’t have to poke her much to get her to pack up and go.
One of the neighborhood cats stopped at our front door last night to say hello. It was a beautiful golden cat a little bigger than Boo, who told us in the most plaintive, kittenish mew I’ve ever heard from a full-grown cat that she wanted only for us to open the door and pet her, which unfortunately we couldn’t do because our Boo is a jealous Boo who barely tolerates other cats. She sat with her nose just inches from the screen, howling and howling, her tail poofed up big as a club. The visiting cat saw none of this aggression. She kept asking to play and rolled around on her back as if Boo was making little kissing noises.
