Cycling to work the other day, I happened to glance over at the vegetables in the community garden just behind Atwood Avenue and saw that somebody had a very healthy hops vine growing up high over the posts they’d strung lines between for the plant to cling to. I’ve read that hops can be a little tricky to grow so I haven’t tried planting any myself, but if somebody can get them to spring up in a community garden, I may just have to sink a few of my own plants in the back yard and put the clothes line to good use. Then, round about August, I can dry them and put them in my own home brew to see what all the fuss is about. Plus, it would just be really cool to grow my own hops.
