full stop

Today’s the day that I have to stop eating in preparation for my procedure tomorrow morning. I’m allowed a light breakfast this morning, so long as I eat it before ten o’clock, and I’ve already eaten half of it: two pieces of toasted white bread. I’m also allowed eggs, but I’m holding off until nine o’clock or so to eat those, on the theory that it’ll hold me over at least a little longer so I won’t feel like I’M STARVING!

After ten o’clock, I won’t be eating anything. I can drink all the clear fluids I want: water, obviously, and fruit juices so long as they don’t have any pulp. Tea and coffee. The RN who went over the diet with me said I could have a bullion cube dissolved in water tonight if I was feeling really desperate, but that’s it. No solid food in the gut until after the procedure, which won’t be over and done with until after the lunch hour. If you never see me again, it’s because I’ve been sucked into my own stomach.
