bon voyage

Sean is on a plane and, even as I type these words, on his way back to Denver, where he’ll arrive just in time to take part in a “Kung Fu New Year.” I don’t know what that is, but I have a very good idea that some alcohol and dancing will be involved. Also probably costumes and, if the host is on top of things, more than a few Bruce Lee movies.

Before he left, we met Uncle Jim and Auntie Sue at The Tipsy Cow on cap square for a farewell dinner, and while we were there our good friends Bryan and Kris showed up. Instant party! From the few snippets of the conversation that I could catch, Sean and Bryan discussed the socio-political underpinnings of the whole world. Across the table, Auntie Sue held forth on the subject of dog poop, with visual aids helpfully sent to her via cell phone by Mikey, her able assistant and dog-sitter. On a somewhat related note, but without so much poop, Jim regaled B and I with several stories about buying and, in at least one case, trading dogs, all of which ended well. We hung out there shooting the bull until around nine o’clock or so, way past our bed time on a school night but I think everyone enjoyed themselves immensely anyway.
