Drivel has been getting spammed quite a lot lately, which isn’t all that weird, but what is weird, or at least seems so to me, is that about half the comments are from spambots posting comments about Ed Lauter, a character actor you’ve probably seen a half-dozen times if you’ve watched any television at all in your life. I remember him from quite a few movies, myself. I probably saw him last in Seabiscuit, but I’ll always remember him as the G-man who deserved the punch in the face he got from Cliff Secord in The Rocketeer, arguably the most underrated movie of 1991. But why is a spambot scattering his name around the internet? I get at least three or four comments with links pointing at different web sites. What’s this guy done lately that would make him worth all this self-promotion? Inquiring minds want to know. Or at least I do.
