Troll Hunter is one of those raw-footage tapes supposedly found at the scene of a disaster, or sent to a television station in the mail. Shot by three college kids taping a documentary about a guy they suspect of being a poacher discover, they find out instead that he’s the one remaining field agent of the T.S.S. – the Troll Security Service, the governmental agency managing the troll population of Norway, which of course must be kept a complete secret because Norwegians would be terrified to know that trolls are real.
It’s a script with just one joke, and although the story slows down just a bit once or twice, Otto Jespersen as the troll hunter, holding this show in the palm of his hand from beginning to end, keeps the show moving along with a deadpan delivery that had me grinning non-stop. I have to say, though, that the two guys with the Polish Painting Service stole their scene when they delivered a giant stuffed Russian brown bear to the scene of a troll attack to throw off the news media.
Troll Hunter was our last movie of the day and kept us up well past midnight, but was well worth it. Four out of five.
