Okay, I’m one of those guys who posts photos of wild animals in his yard. So sue me. It’s not every night five deer wander into our Monona neighborhood and hang around for the better part of a half-hour, browsing at the grass poking through the edges of our driveway and what’s left of the garden greens.
Looked like three adults and two younger deer, but we didn’t seem them all right away. First one we saw was out in the street, standing there like he was waiting for a ride. Then a second one came out from behind a bush, and by that time we both had our noses pressed to the glass going Oooo! and Aaahhhh!
The other three came out of a neighbor’s back yard ten or fifteen minutes later, and from then on we were following them as they made their way from the street side of the house to our back yard where they browsed through the leftovers in our garden. A few of them wandered back to the street side of the house until cars began to stop along the side of the road so the drivers could snap photos of them with their cell phones. They ran into the back yard again after that, and didn’t hang around long.
My Darling B was snapping photos of them like mad but only a few of them had anything in them that looked like deer. Here’s a shot of them in the neighbor’s driveway just to show we weren’t hallucinating.
